2016-17: Recorded a 11-13 record with one fall at 125 pounds ... Finished fourth at the UNC Pembroke Classic.

2015-16: Did not wrestle, redshirted this year.

High School: Velez attened Richland Northeast High School where he was a two-time regional champion, a runner-up in the upper-state tournament and finished fifth in the South Carolina state tournament. 

Personal: Son of Maria Lopez-Velez and Wilfredo Velez... he has five siblings Paula, Luis, Brian, Wilfredo and Jose.
