Cobras Drop ECAC Dual to Limestone

GAFFNEY, S.C. – The Coker College Wrestling team fell to the Limestone College Saints 33-8 Thursday (Jan. 12) evening in ECAC action.

The Cobras dropped the first six duals of the match before Jamal Lackey put the Cobras on the board with a dominant 16-1 second period technical fall over Matthew Ostermiller at 174 pounds.

Lackey went to work early in the match with two first period takedowns for a 4-1 advantage. During the second period, Lackey was impressive on top with three sets of four near fall points for the 16-1 technical fall.

At 197 pounds, Robert Parland defeated Tyreek Smith by a solid 5-2 decision. Parland, the seventh ranked 197 pounder in Super Region Two, used two of his signature blast double takedowns and held his lead for the victory.

The Cobras will be back in action on Saturday, Jan. 21 when they travel to King to compete in an ECAC dual meet starting at 2 p.m.
