NEWBERRY, S.C. – The Coker College wrestling team dropped two matches in the Super Region Two Duals Saturday (Jan. 28) morning. The Cobras fell to No. 8 Findlay 40-3 in their first dual meet of the day and then dropped a 29-18 match to No. 23 Tiffin.
Robert Parland was the lone Coker grappler to finish the day with a perfect 2-0 record. The Cobra 197 pounder defeated Chancellor Sonnenburg of Findlay 9-2 and earned a tight 5-3 decision in his second match of the day over Jared Chambers of Tiffin.
During their match against No. 23 Tiffin, the Cobras took four of 10 matches. Frank Velez, Jordon Tague, Robert Parland, and Tyvon Leacock all earned victories in the dual. Jordon Tague and Tyvon Leacock highlighted the Coker victories with first period falls over their Tiffin opponents.
The Cobras will be back in action on Thursday, Feb. 2 when they travel to ECAC foe Emmanuel for a 6 p.m. dual meet.
