Cobras Crown Four Champions at King Open

BRISTOL, Tenn. – The Coker College wrestling team crowned four champions and earned 12 place winners on Sunday (Nov. 20) at the King Open. Champions for Coker included Rashad Williams (141 pounds), Rashad Cunningham (165 pounds), Jordon Garlow (184 pounds), and Nathan Troutvine (285 pounds).

Rashad Williams wrestled his way to a 141 pound championship with four victories by way of three decisions and a forfeit. At 165 pounds, Rashad Cunningham finished 2-0 with a decision and major decision to cap off his championship performance. 

Jordon Garlow turned in a strong performance at 184 pounds with a 2-0 record on the day for first place. Garlow won both of his matches by decision. The fourth and final champion for the Cobras was Nathan Troutvine at 285 pounds. Troutvine finished the day with a 4-0 record and won all of his matches by decision.

Other place winners for Coker included Frank Velez (2nd, 125 pounds), John Smith Jr. (3rd, 133 pounds), Matthew Kieta (2nd, 141 pounds), RaSean McArthur (3rd, 141 pounds), Bret Shurina (2nd, 149 pounds), Jamez Taylor (3rd, 149 pounds), Jordon Tague (2nd, 157 pounds), Kyle Ocker (3rd, 157 pounds), Jamal Lackey (2nd, 174 pounds), Seth Spell (5th, 174 pounds), Marco Mason Jr. (3rd, 197 pounds), and Jeremy Wilson (5th, 285 pounds).

The Cobras will return to the mat on Wednesday, Dec. 7, when they return home to host Belmont Abbey in the Art Meets Art dual in Watson Theatre.
