Wrestling Travels to Super Region Two Duals

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker College wrestling team will travel to Newberry College to compete in the Super Region Two duals tomorrow (Jan. 28) morning. The Cobras will wrestle No. 8 Findlay at 8 a.m. and No. 23 Tiffin at 11 a.m. Live stats will be available at www.cokercobras.com.

The Navy and Gold head into this weekend's duals with a 3-4 overall record and two wrestlers ranked in Super Region Two.

Sophomore Frank Velez is eighth in Super Region Two at 125 pounds and currently holds a 9-7 overall record with one fall.

Senior Robert Parland holds his spot in the Super Region Two rankings coming in at seventh at 197 pounds. Parland leads the Cobras in wins with 10 victories and takedowns with 27. In addition, Parland has collected one fall this season.

The Cobra 197 pounder is currently riding a three-match win streak that includes an 8-5 decision over Bret Winters from Shorter University, the seventh ranked 285 pounder in Super Region Two.

Findlay comes into tomorrow's action ranked seventh in the nation and second in Super Region Two with eight wrestlers ranked within their individual weight classes in the region. Tiffin will take the mat tomorrow ranked 23rd in the nation and sixth in Super Region Two with seven wrestlers ranked within their respective weight classes in the region.
