2015-16: Akins qualified for the NCAA Division II National Championships, where he finished fourth and became Coker wrestling's first athletic All-American. He also finished fourth at the NCAA Super Regional and ended the year with a total record of 16-9. Akins earned five wins by decision, three by fall and one each by major decision and tech fall. Akins was also named to the Division II All-Academic Second Team.
2014-15: Akins red-shirted the 2014-15 season.
2013-14: In his first season at Coker, Akins picked up 25 wins, which was second on the roster. He also advanced to day two of the NCAA Super Regional Championship.
Other College: Akins transfered to Coker from Columbia University where he was a New York State Championship Finalist.
High School: A standout wrestler at Matoaca High School, Akins was 148-40 during his high school career. He went 48-4 his senior year with 28 pins. He was a two-time district champion, two-time Central Regional Finalist and was ranked No. 26 in the nation by Wrestling USA Magazine.
Personal: Son of Wendy and Bret Akins...he has two siblings Devin and Shelby.
