2016-17: Maldonado ran in five of seven races in his rookie campaign, finishing in the Top 20 once. His 20th-place finish at the Coastal Carolina Invitational (Sept. 9) in 21:42.65 was his best finish of the season.

High School: Maldonado attended Spring Valley High School where he ran track and cross country for the Vikings. He was a three-time letterman for the cross country team and was a member of the 4A track and field state championship team. In the classroom, he was a four-time member of the A/B honor roll and a two-time member of the "All A" honor roll. 

Personal: Son of Tanya and Jerry Maldonado... he has one sibling Jarrod who attends the University of Alabama.
