The Coker College wrestling team once again placed members on the National Wrestling Coaches Association Academic All-American team. Eight Cobras made the list along with the team as a whole.

The Coker College wrestling team returned to ECAC action on Tuesday (Feb. 6) night with a dual against UNC Pembroke. The Cobras fell behind early and lost the dual 33-12.

The Coker wrestling team competed at the Newberry Duals with nine other teams across the NCAA and NAIA. The Cobras took on Queens (NC), St. Cloud State, and Bellarmine on Sunday (Dec. 3). The Navy and Gold earned a 29-13 victory over Queens, suffered a loss against No. 1 St. Cloud State, and came back for a 28-20 win over Bellarmine.

The Coker College wrestling team traveled to Belmont Abbey on Tuesday (Nov. 28) night in their first conference action of the season. The Cobras fell 31-19 against the Crusaders in the ECAC matchup.

The Coker College wrestling team traveled to Georgia to participate in the Georgia Open, where 16 Cobras competed against the likes of NCAA Divisions I and II, and NAIA institutions.

The 2017 Pembroke Classic Wrestling Tournament, hosted by University of North Carolina at Pembroke, saw 18 Cobras compete against the likes of the NCAA, NAIA, and club teams.

The Coker wrestling team traveled to the Berglund Center Sunday (Nov. 5) for the 2017 Hokie Open, hosted by Virginia Tech. The event featured Division I, II, and club wrestling teams from across the East Coast.

The Coker wrestling team opened up its 2017-18 season at the Spartanburg Methodist Duals where they battled Life University and Spartanburg Methodist College Wednesday night (Nov. 1). The Cobras lost their first match to the Life Running Eagles 47-0 and won their match against the Spartanburg Methodist Pioneers 27-21.

The Coker College wrestling comes into the 2017-18 season under the leadership of second year head coach Michael Baxter and assistant coach Shea Nolan. The Cobras look to improve on last season’s performance and exceed expectations starting Nov.1 at the Spartanburg Methodist Duals, which feature Spartanburg Methodist College and Life University.
