Cobras Earn Twelve Top-10 Finishes at Wingate Invitational

MONROE, N.C. – The Coker College men's track and field team concluded competition at the Wingate University Invitational on Friday (Mar. 25). As a team, the Cobras finished eighth.

Malik Tarbell finished in ninth in the long jump with a distance of 6.19 meters. That performance bettered his previous personal-best by .07 meters.

In the triple jump, Attiyyah Shakir also came in ninth place with a distance of 11.81 meters.

Derrian Moreau finished sixth in the 110-meter hurdles. He ran a time of 16.04 in the finals.

In the 100-meter dash, Tarbell also finished in sixth, recording a time of 11.13 in the finals.

Coker had three runners place inside the top-seven in the 800-meter run. James Gregory led the way with a fourth place finish and a time of 1:58.34. That performance beat his previous season-low time by nearly two seconds. Razzel Kiplaget finished in sixth place with a time of 1:58.78. That time bettered his previous best by over two seconds. Brandon Mullins rounded things out with a seventh place showing and a time of 1:58.83.

In the 200-meter dash, it was Jarrell Mumford leading the way with a fourth place showing and a time of 22.91. Joshua Dacres came in in eighth position with a time of 23.03.

In the 5000-meter run, Jacob Chebii and Joe Altieri both finished in the top-10. Chebii came in fourth position with a time of 16:31.59. Altieri ran a time of 18:48.98, which landed him a 10th place showing.

In the 4x 400-meter relay, the team of Mumford, Ryan Archibold, Anthony Clontz and Naim Fareed took home the top spot, running a time of 3:21.82 in the finals. That time shattered their previous season-best by nearly five seconds. It also landed them the top time in the SAC coming into the meet.

The Cobras will be back in action on Saturday (Apr. 2) when they travel to Spartanburg for the Terrier Relays.
