Cobras Close Out Season with Three-Match Home Stand

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – After a five-match road trip, the Coker women's volleyball team will return to the Timberlake-Lawton Gymnasium to close its 2013 season with a three-match home stand this weekend. The Cobras will honor their five seniors during the first game of the home stand against the Lions of Mars Hill University at 7 p.m. on Friday (Nov. 15). Coker will then turn around and play a doubleheader on Saturday (Nov. 16) against the Tusculum College Pioneers at 12 p.m., and the University of North Carolina at Pembroke Braves at 6 p.m.  All three matches will be broadcast live online at www.cokercobras.com.

Leading the way offensively all season for the Cobras have been Taylor Willis and Samantha Celek. Willis has compiled a 2.64 kills per set average thanks to her 177 kills on the season, while Celek has dished out 558 assists.

 Mars Hill enters the match having lost to Tusculum 3-1 in its last contest, but sport a 15-10 overall record and 12-8 SAC mark. The Lions are led by seniors Marissa Wixson and Toni Cole who have put down 374 and 276 kills, respectively.

The Pioneers are 19-8 overall and 14-6 in SAC play, and are led by the 281 kills of Rachel Garnett. Tusculum will face Wingate University on Friday (Nov. 15) before facing off with the Cobras on Saturday.

Caroline Pridgen's 300 kills pace the offense of the 15-18 Braves, who are 4-12 in the Peach Belt Conference. UNCP will play Columbus State (Nov. 15) and Montevallo (Nov. 16) before they battle the Cobras Saturday evening.

Tickets for all three matches are $5 for adults, $3 for students and free to all Coker faculty, staff and students.
