Women's Track and Field Seeks Strong Outing at the Wake Forest Open

HARTSVILLE, S.C.- On Saturday (Jan. 20) the Coker College women's track and field program will make its way to Winston-Salem, N.C. to take on the Wake Forest Open. This will be the program's third event of the young 2017-18 season. 

Kaylah Ruff led the way for the Cobras in their previous event at the JDL New Year College Kick-Off, crossing the line in 9.14 seconds in the women's 60-meter hurdles. The time pushed Ruff to the top of the Coker record book.

Deonzha Jackson and Abigail Baroody also raced in the 60-meter hurdles, finishing sixth and seventh in times of 9.57 and 10.19.

Noelia Leake took home seventh in the 60-meter race, finishing in 7.78 seconds, putting her tied for third all-time fastest in Coker history.

Charity Snelling, Chauntress Like, Lisa Foster, and Breanna Sullivan took home the top spot in the women's 4x400 relay, finishing in the time of 4:47.97.

Talicia Murphy took fourth places in the long jump competition, pulling in a distance of 15' 11.5".

Caterra Barkins issued a third place finish in the shot put, tossing a length of 29' 10.75".

In the weight throw, Tamara McMichael finished tenth overall, throwing for a distance of 32' 4.75", putting her second all-time in program history.

Coker College women's track and field will take on the Wake Forest Open on Saturday (Jan. 20) in Winston-Salem, N.C., beginning at 9:30 a.m. Results from the event can be found by visiting www.cokercobras.com.
