Cobras Open at Home with Two SAC Matches

HARTSVILLE, S.C.- The Coker Cobra women's volleyball team will host two South Atlantic Conference matches this weekend versus the Railsplitters of Lincoln Memorial (Sept. 15 at 7:00 p.m.) and the Carson-Newman Eagles (Sept. 16 at 2:00 p.m.).

Winning four of their first six matches, the Cobras have gotten the 2017 season off to a good start. Taylor du Bray leads the Navy and Gold with 76 kills and Madison Bingle is right behind with 74. Bingle is now seventh on Coker's all-time kills list with 702 for her career. Christen Bragg has taken over second place in Coker history with a total of 2,323 assists, including 288 so far this season. Bragg is also one away from the century mark in career service aces with 9 in 2017, which is good enough for sixth all-time at Coker. Kara Overholt has a team-best 145 digs, while Bingle has added 119, which moves her into eighth in Cobra history with 885 for her career. Alexis Berles has totaled 25 block assists on the season, which now brings her into a tie for third all-time with 209. Bragg has brought herself up to eighth in the same category with 150 over her career, adding 17 so far this season.

LMU comes in with a record of 4-1 overall and 1-1 in conference play. Their previous two SAC matches went to five sets, defeating Mars Hill, but falling to Tusculum. Coker is their third stop on a five-match road trip around the conference. Kierea Holland has the team-high in kills with 61 and service aces with seven. Danielle Ged leads the team in total blocks with 24, while Samantha Cash has the most assists with 190 in her 20 sets played.

The Eagles come into the weekend with a 4-1 overall record and are 2-0 in SAC play. Marnie Streeter leads the team offensively with 53 kills, and Anna Patton has handed out 77 assists with 10 service aces. Defensively, Alex Biro has kept her hands around the net, totalling 15 blocks, while Morgan Ballard has kept the ball in play with 133 digs.
