Cobras Overpower Railsplitters in Three Sets

HARTSVILLE, S.C.- The Coker College women's volleyball team took on the Railsplitters of Lincoln Memorial Friday (Sept. 15) in a South Atlantic Conference matchup that served as the Cobras home opener. The Navy and Gold only needed three sets (25-20, 25-23, 25-22) to take down the Railsplitters, who were a preseason No. 2 pick in the SAC, winning the match 3-0.

Taylor du Bray once again led the offensive attack, compiling 11 kills, and took over on defense as well, collecting 24 digs for the Cobras. Chloe Attram claimed the highest hitting percentage on either side at .500, with a kill-error-total attempt ratio of 8-1-14. Christen Bragg orchestrated the Cobras offense with 32 assists, while Kara Overholt finished second on the team in digs with 22 on the night. As a team, the Cobras had nine total blocks. Alexis Berles stood out with two solo blocks and she assisted on three.

The Cobras continue the weekend homestand against Carson-Newman when the Eagles come to the DeLoach Center on Saturday (Sept. 16). First serve is set for 2 p.m.

Tickets for each match are $5 for adults, $3 for students and free to all Coker faculty, staff and students. Live stats and video can be found at www.cokercobras.com.
