Women's Volleyball Ready for First Home Matches of the Season

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker College women's volleyball team will make their first appearances in Timberlake-Lawton Gymnasium this weekend with matches on Friday and Saturday. The first match will be at 7 p.m. on Friday night against Queens University of Charlotte, followed by a 12:30 p.m. match on Saturday against Pfeiffer University. Both Conference Carolinas matches will be video-streamed live online at www.cokercobras.com.

The Cobras are coming off of a tough nine-match road trip that took them to Pennsylvania, North Carolina and South Carolina.  Junior Taylor Willis had led the offense with 95 kills, while senior Brittany Bass is the defensive leader with 128 digs.

The Queens Royals are coming off a 3-0 victory at Anderson University in their last match. Keri Kemp was the kill leader with 13 and Jocelyn Kellinger had 17 digs.

Last season, the Royals swept the Cobras winning both of their meetings with scores of 3-0.

The Pfeiffer Falcons are coming off back-to-back losses to Catawba and Lenoir-Rhyne. So far this season Kelly Lancellott has been the kill leader with 53 and Taylor Houser has 41 digs.

Coker split their two meetings with the Falcons last season, losing 3-2 at Pfeiffer and winning 3-2 at home.

Coker's home stand will be short lived as they return to the road for the next four matches starting next Tuesday (Sept. 18) at Francis Marion.
