Indians Slip Cobras, 2-1

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker women's soccer team lost a tough 2-1 SAC game to the Catawba Indians on Saturday (Oct. 5) at the Coker Soccer Field.

Catawba put the first point on the scoreboard as they scored the lone goal in the first half to take a 1-0 lead into halftime.  However, just four minutes into the second half the Cobras tied up the game at one apiece, when Jalynn Fortt scored off a Cassie Callahan pass.

The two teams would battle late into the game, but the Indians would eventually prevail as Karen Presnell went on to score the game winner.

Coker landed 75 percent of their shots on goal, while Lizz Morris added 15 more saves to her total.

The Cobras will look to bounce back on Wednesday (Oct. 9), as they host Wingate in another SAC competition.  The game is scheduled for a 4:30 PM start time.
