Cobras Drop Exhibition Contest at Appalachian State

BOONE, N.C.- The Coker women's basketball team fell in its exhibition contest at Appalachian State 77-51 on Wednesday (Nov. 2).

The Cobras played a tight first quarter, going to the break trailing 18-15 after shooting 46 percent from the field. In the opening frame Kaleah Hires notched seven points including one three-pointer. The Cobras also pulled down a total of 10 rebounds in the opening quarter. The second quarter saw App State take control, with Coker only scoring seven points in the frame and trailing 42-22 at the half. 

Despite being behind 62-34 after three quarters, the Navy and Gold shot 37.5 percent in the third quarter and 50 percent from beyond the arc.

Kaleah Hires finished her Coker debut with a team-high 12 points, while Iresha Cooper added 11 and Lindsey Adams and Terrika Foster each chipped in six. The Cobras finished with 34 total rebounds, 22 of them coming off the defensive glass.

The Cobras shot a total of 36 percent from the field and 46 percent from three-point range. Coker also collected 20 points from its bench in the contest.

The Cobras will take the floor for their regular season opener on Nov. 11 when they take on Limestone in the Stokes-Trainor Conference Challenge hosted by Newberry College.
