Lau Scores 24, As Cobras Calm Tornado

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Amber Lau led the Cobras to a 73-63 victory over Conference Carolinas foe King University on Saturday (Jan. 26) with 24-points.  With the win the Cobras improve to 11-7 on the year, and 7-5 in league play.

Defense was the story in the first half, as the Cobras held the Tornado to just 13-points for the first 14-minutes of the game.  King (9-7, 5-7) was able to net eight more points in the final six minutes of the first half, but it was Coker who took a 32-21 advantage into the break.

The offensive surge continued into the second half for the Cobras, as Coker kept a secure 10-point lead for most of the final 20-minutes.

Eleven different players scored for Coker as the team collected their third highest scoring game of the season.  Along with Lau, her twin sister Autumn scored 10-points and snatched down nine rebounds.  Kelley Godbout also had nine rebounds, tying Autumn for the team high.

Coker will hit the road to face Belmont Abbey on Thursday (Jan. 31), in a Conference Carolinas match.  The game is set for a 5:30 p.m. start time.
