Coker Softball Drops Doubleheader to Tusculum

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker softball team lost a South Atlantic Conference doubleheader to Tusculum College on Saturday (Apr. 12), at Saleeby-Stokes Field.

In the first game of the series both teams were scoreless after four innings.  Tusculum would eventually push a run across in the fifth to take a 1-0 lead, which would prove to be the game winner for the Pioneers.

Lauren Phillips (9-10) would be marked with the loss after pitching a complete game for the Cobras.  She gave up just one run on six hits.

Coker's offensive struggle continued into the second game, after Tusculum jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead in the first.  The Pioneers would then extend their lead to 2-0 in the fifth, after a two out single.  Coker unfortunately could not produce the necessary runs, and they would eventually fall in game two by a final score of 2-0.

Logan Cox (1-6) would be tacked with the loss, after giving up just two runs on six hits in seven innings of work.

Coker will look to bounce back this Wednesday (Apr. 16) as they travel to play Newberry in a SAC challenge.  Game number one will start at 2:00 p.m. followed by game two at 4:00.
