Cobra Golf Set to Compete in Conference Championships

GRAHAM, N.C. – The Coker men's and women's golf teams will travel to compete in the Conference Carolinas Championship at Challenge Course in Graham N.C. on Saturday (Apr. 20).

The Coker men's team will have high hopes entering the tournament as the No. 23 ranked team in the nation according to the latest Golf World/Nike Golf poll. 

Leading the field for the Cobras will be Christopher Fuga who has averaged the team low of 75.1 strokes per round.  Nicklaus Kennedy is close behind with an average of 75.5, followed by Luke Coates with 77.1, Aaron Beebe with 77.2, and Jake Murphy with 77.7.

Krista Thorpe will be leading the women's team, entering the tournament with a team low stroke average of 84.1 on the year. Mallory Thompkins is second on the team with a stroke average of 84.8, followed by Taylor Demby with 85.1.  Sara Allen and Jessi McKenzie are next with averages of 88.4 and 96.3. 

Teams will be given a practice round on Friday (Apr. 19), followed by the official start of the tournament on Saturday morning.  The top four teams after the first two days will advance to a modified medal match play championship round on Monday (Apr. 22) to determine the Conference Carolinas Tournament champion and runner-up.
