Cobras Fall to Sharp-Shooting Trojans in SAC Action

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker College men's basketball team dropped a South Atlantic Conference matchup to the visiting Anderson University Trojans on Wednesday (Dec. 14) by a score of 96-84.

The two sides stayed tight in the opening four minutes, Anderson leading narrowly 10-9 at the under 16-minute media timeout. The Trojans surged ahead 26-15, with a made layup at the 8:53 mark capping off a 16-6 run for Anderson. Coker could not stop the efficient offense of Anderson, allowing the Trojans to take a 36-20 advantage with 6:24 left. Both sides evened out to close out the first half, with Anderson taking a 53-35 lead into the locker rooms.

The Cobras could not cut into the Anderson lead throughout the final 20 minutes, with the Trojans picking up the road win by a score of 96-84.

Jalal Abdul-Azeez led the way with 15 points. JaQuez Motley and Nathan Lemke finished with 11 points, while Jake Barrett rounded out the double-digit scorers for the Navy and Gold with 10 points.

The Cobras will be back in action on Saturday (Dec. 17) when they travel to Tusculum to take on the Pioneers. Opening tip is set for 4 p.m. at Tusculum.
