Cobras Host Anderson in Midweek SAC Matchup

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker College men's basketball team returns to the friendly confines of the DeLoach Center on Wednesday (Dec. 14) to take on the visiting Anderson University Trojans at 8 p.m. in a South Atlantic Conference matchup. The Cobras come into Wednesday's matchup with a 1-1 record at home. Coker also posted a 1-1 record vs. Anderson in 2015-16.

The Cobras are led by the double-digit scoring trio of JaQuez Motley, Jake Barrett and Miguel Priest. Motley enters Wednesday averaging 12.2 points per game, while Barrett and Priest are chipping in 11.4 and 10.3 points per contest. Roman Hall is shooting nearly 47 percent from the field, whiling averaging 9.8 points per game. Nathan Lemke is coming off back-to-back double-double performance, both of which he scored 20 or more points and pulled down 10 or more rebounds. 

As a team, the Cobras lead the South Atlantic Conference averaging 15.6 offensive rebounds per game, they rank second with 11 steals per game and fourth in total rebounding, pulling down 40.4 per game. 

The Trojans travel to Hartsville sporting a 4-5 overall record and a 2-1 record in SAC play. They are led by Randall Shaw, who ranks second in the SAC in points per game, averaging 20.3 per contest. 

Opening tip is set for 8 p.m. Tickets for the game are $5 for adults, $3 for students and free to all Coker faculty, staff and students. Fans are encouraged to contribute to the canned food drive that benefits Hartsville Interfaith Ministries. Fans who donate two canned goods will be admitted to the game free of charge.
