Cobras Cruise Past Tornados at Home

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker College women's volleyball team cruised past the visiting Tornados of Brevard College Friday (Sept. 30) evening with a 3-0 sweep.

Coker took control of the match early on with a decisive 25-17 victory. The turning point of the set came when the Cobras rattled off six consecutive points to regain an 11-8 advantage. Christen Bragg highlighted the six point scoring streak with a well-placed kill.

Coker continued to tack on to their early lead when Regan Kennen secured the first set victory off a kill.

In the second set of play, the Cobras battled for a 25-23 victory. Brevard held a late 22-18 lead when the Cobras responded with six straight points for a 24-22 lead. Christen Bragg, Madison Bingle, and Alexis Berles played crucial roles in the scoring streak by contributing kills.

The third and final set was another competitive set with the Cobras prevailing 25-22. Coker used the combination of a pair of three point scoring streaks and a four point scoring streak to edge the Tornados. Madison Bingle sealed the set and match victory with her 13th kill.

The Cobras will be back in action tomorrow (Oct. 1) afternoon when the host Lenoir-Rhyne at 2 p.m.
