Cobras Take on Lions and Pioneers in SAC Home Opener

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker College women's volleyball team (2-0) will return to the friendly confines of the DeLoach Center for the first time in 2015-16 on Friday (Sept. 11) and Saturday (Sept. 12) for a South Atlantic Conference doubleheader against Mars Hill University and Tusculum College. Friday's match is slated to begin at 7 p.m., with Saturday's match set for a 2 p.m. start. Live stats and video will be available for both matches at www.cokercobras.com

The Cobras come into the weekend matchups with a perfect 2-0 record after back-to-back 3-0 wins on the road. Leading the way is the sophomore duo of Madison Bingle and Christen Bragg. Bingle's 18 kills and 17 digs are both team highs. Bragg has registered 14 kills and a team-high 32 assists. Also, Shealynn Miller and Cayley Gunter have both recorded 11 kills each.

The Lions come in sporting an even 2-2 record. Friday's game will also serve as their SAC opener. They are led in the kills column by Lauren Hochstetler and Rebecca Butler with 55 and 44 kills apiece. Sara Fahrenbrook has dished out a team-high 71 assists.

The Pioneers will take on Wingate on Friday night before making the trip to Hartsville for Saturday's match. They enter the weekend road trip with a 2-1 record.  Laryssa Welch and Rachel Garnett have 33 and 32 kills each and Hannah Berling has 121 assists to lead to Tusculum.

Friday night's match is set for a 7 p.m. start with the doors of the DeLoach Center opening at 6 p.m. First serve for Saturday's match is at 2 p.m. with doors opening at 1 p.m. Tickets are $15 dollars for reserved seats, $5 dollars for adults, $3 dollars for students, and free for all Coker students, faculty and staff.
