Cobras to Host Bears and Tornados in Weekend SAC Matches

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker women's volleyball team will play host to the Lenoir-Rhyne University Bears and the Brevard College Tornados in a pair of South Atlantic Conference matches this weekend. The Cobras will take on the Bears on Friday (Sept. 19) at 7 p.m. and then take on the Tornados on Saturday (Sept. 20) at noon. Both matches will be broadcast live on www.cokercobras.com.

The Navy and Yellow enter the weekend with an even 3-3 record and will be looking to improve on their 1-1 record at the DeLoach Center. Leading the offensive attack is the freshman trio of Christen Bragg, Madison Bingle and Megan Hardy. Bragg leads the team with 188 assists, which includes 30-plus assists in five of six matches. Bingle finds herself leading the Cobras with 47 kills, while Hardy is right behind her with 39 kills.

The Bears head to Hartsville sporting a 7-1 record, which includes a six-match winning streak. Haley Rhyne leads the team with 81 kills, while Briana Gottberg has dished out 290 assists to pace the offense.

The Tornados have a 6-2 record, but will take on the Wingate Bulldogs Friday evening before playing the Cobras on Saturday. Freshman outside hitter Whitney DeMoss leads the team with 68 kills.

Doors will open at 6 p.m. on Friday and 11 a.m. on Saturday at the DeLoach Center. Tickets for both matches are $5 for adults, $3 for students and free to all Coker faculty, staff and students.
