Darroneshia Lott Sets Sights on NCAA Division II Track & Field National Championships

HARTSVILLE, S.C.- Esteemed senior runner Darroneshia Lott has once again qualified for the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field National Championships. Lott will compete in both the 1500 and 800-meter. 

Hosted by Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, N.C., the 2018 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships will take place May 24 – 26. Lott will toe the starting line for the 1500-meter preliminary race on Thursday, May 24 at 5:25 p.m. Throughout the season, Lott has continuously progressed with her times in the 1500-meter event. On Sunday, May 13, Lott secured the third-fastest time in all of Division II with a time of 4:21.69 at the Mount Olive Final Qualifier, where she took to the top of the podium as well. Should Lott advance to the finals in the 1500-meter, the national championship race will be staged for a 3:55 p.m. start on Saturday afternoon.

The Pensacola, Fla. native will also be competing in the 800-meter. The preliminary race for this event is set for Friday, May 25 at 6:20 p.m. Lott currently holds the second-fastest 800-meter time in all of Division II with the time of 2:05.41 which came at the Virginia Grand Prix on April 28. Additionally, Lott finished fourth in the country at nationals last season with a time of 2:07.40. Should Lott reach the finals in the 800-meter, the national championship race is scheduled for a 5:15 p.m. start on Saturday, May 26.
