Leake, Barkins & Lott Each Set New Records, 4x100 Wins at Phoenix Invitational

ELON, N.C.- The Coker College women's track and field program came away with a solid day at the Phoenix Invitational on Saturday, April 14 in Elon, N.C. The Cobras had several new records set to go along with an Individual Title from Noelia Leake and in the 4x100. 

Noelia Leake took off at the sound of the starting gun in the women's 200-meter dash and crossed the line before any of her other competition could. Leake took the Individual Title in the time of 24.82 a new personal and Coker record in the event. Teammate Autumn Walters brought home a fifth-place finish in the time of 26.08.

Additionally, Leake, Walters and teammates Jalecia Williamson and Angel Gale took first place in the women's 4x100-meter event in the time of 47.54, the second-fastest time in school history.

Next, Darroneshia Lott reeled in a second place finish in the 400-meter race, also setting a new personal and school record in the time of 56.02. Lisa Foster also ran in the race and finished sixth in 1:00.70.

Caterra Barkins was the other Cobra to set a new record on Saturday. Barkins participated in the discus, tossing a distance of 109' 11" to become the new record holder. She finished 16th overall in the event.

Charity Snelling was one of four others to score the same mark of 5' 3.25 in the high jump, all-tying for the best mark on the afternoon. Her jump stands as the fifth-best in program history.

Moving further, the 4x400-meter team consisting of Charity Snelling, Kaylah Ruff, Angel Gale and Jalicia Williamson finished third in the time of 4:02.97, the fifth-best time at Coker.

Tiffany Taylor and Tamara McMichael took on the javelin throw, claiming fifth and seventh place finishes. Taylor threw a distance of 103' 7" and McMichael 96' 2" for the third and sixth-longest throws for the Navy and Gold.

Talicia Murphy and Deonzha Jackson competed in the long jump and finished eighth and ninth respectively, with distances of 17' 2.25" and 16' 8.75". Murphy's mark is the fourth all-time at Coker, while Jackson's is sixth.

In the 100-meter hurdles Ruff and Jackson finished fourth and sixth for the Navy and Gold in times of 15.56 and 18.01.

Lastly, Snelling, Williamson and Gale all ran in the 400-meter hurdles, claiming fifth, seventh and eighth place finishes. Snelling ran a 1:07.77, Williamson a 1:08.81 and Gale a 1:09.86. All three times align as the fourth, fifth and sixth fastest times in the event at Coker.

The Cobras will next compete in the South Atlantic Conference Championships on Friday and Saturday, April 20-21 located in Hickory, N.C. Results can be found by visiting www.cokercobras.com.
