Cobras Tabbed Fifth in SAC Outdoor Poll

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker College women's track and field team was picked fifth in the 2017 South Atlantic Conference Women's Outdoor Track and Field Poll, the league office announced today. 

The Cobras received 39 points in the poll, with Queens claiming the top spot with 71 points and seven first-place votes.

Noelia Leake, Darroneshia Lott and Charity Snelling were all named to the SAC Watch List.

Leake picked up a win in the 100-meter dash at the UNCW Invitational, running a school-record time 12.14 seconds. She also notched a pair of runner-up showings at the LRU Southside Power & Fitness Invitational in the 100 and 200-meter dash. She was named to the USTFCCCA all-region team last season and was named SAC Runner of the Week during the week of Mar. 21-27.

Lott continues to impress during her outdoor campaign, winning the 1500-meter at the Braves Track Classic and the LRU Southside Power & Fitness Invitational. Her time of 4:41.88 at the latter event is a school record. Lott also picked up wins in the 800-meter dash at the UNCW Invitational and at the LRU Southside & Fitness Invitational. Her time of 2:11.60 is also a school record.

Snelling has four top-ten showings during this outdoor season, including a fourth-place finish in the triple jump at the LRU Southside Power and Fitness Invitational. She was named to the USTFCCCA all-region team in both the 2016 indoor and outdoor season for her performance in the high jump.

The Cobras will be back in action on Friday and Saturday (Mar. 24-25) for the Weems Baskin Relays.
