Cobras Win Four Events; Finish Second at Southside Power & Fitness Invitational

HICKORY, N.C. – The Coker College women's track and field team turned in a stellar day at the Southside Power & Fitness Invitational, winning four events and taking second place in the team standings. 

In the 1500-meter, Darroneshia Lott dominated the event, winning by 10 seconds and running a school-record time of 4:41.88. Lott wasn't done there as she won the 800-meter dash by nearly six seconds with a time of 2:12.59.

The Cobras headlined the 400-meter hurdles, as Angel Gale took the top spot with a time of 1:04.64, Jalecia Williamson took second with a time of 1:07.49 and Kaylah Ruff finished in fourth with a time of 1:10.01. Angeline Flores also finished in the top 10, running a time of 1:12.17.

The Cobras ran a time of 4:04.32 in the 4 x 400-meter relay to take the top spot.

The Navy and Gold also posted a strong showing in the 200-meter dash, as Noelia Leake finished in second with a time of 25.73 seconds, Avian Batts finished in third with a time of 26.07 seconds and Autumn Walters finished in fourth with a time of 26.08 seconds.

Briana Nixon and Autumn Walters had solid showings in the 400-meter dash, finishing in second and fourth with times of 1:01.01 and 1:02.64.

Kaylah Ruff also posted a runner-up finish in the 100-meter hurdles, running a time of 15.67 seconds.

In the 100-meter dash, Noelia Leake's time of 12.27 seconds was good enough for a second-place finish. Batts also finished fifth with a time of 12.81 seconds.

The Cobra posted a runner-up showing the 4 x 100-meter relay, running a time of 49.72 seconds.

In the triple jump, Charity Snelling finished in fourth with a distance of 33' 10.25".

In the long jump, Talicia Murphy finished fifth with a distance of 15' 11.5".

In the high jump, Tiffany Taylor cleared 4' 7" to finish in eighth place. She also finished tenth in the javelin throw, with a distance of 87' 9".

As a team the Cobras finished with 123 points in the 19 events that were scored, finishing in second place. 

The Cobras will be back in action on Friday and Saturday (Mar. 24-25) for the Weems Baskin Relays.
