Coker Women's Soccer Season Comes to an End

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker women's soccer season came to an end on Saturday with a 2-1 loss to Limestone College in Conference Carolinas action.

The tightly contested match was a battle from start to finish. Coker held the advantage on shots 10-8, but the Saints had 12 corner kicks to the Cobras' five.

All three goals were scored in the opening half. Limestone's Ashley Spanitz and Leah Kennington scored a goal each to take a 2-0 lead with 26 minutes remaining.

Senior Morgan Hartline cut the lead to just one with a goal off a corner kick from Jaylnn Fortt in the 40th minute, but that would be all the scoring the match would see. The Cobras controlled possession during the second half, but were unable to crack the Saint's defense.

Coker keeper Lizz Morris had five saves, as did Limestone's Mariette Martinez. Morris finishes the season with 148 saves, giving her the most in the conference and the fourth most in NCAA Division II.

Coker honored their four seniors; Haley Gibson, Sarah Rountree, Sarah Kinsey and Hartline, during tonight's senior game.
