Cobra Wrestling Heads to UNCP for NCAA Midwest Super Regional

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The regionally ranked No. 8 Coker Cobra wrestling team will hit the road to compete in the NCAA Division II Midwest Super Regional Tournament on Friday (Feb. 27) and Saturday (Feb. 28) at UNC Pembroke.

The Cobras head to Pembroke with six wrestlers ranked in the top eight in the region in their respective weight classes.

Leading the way for Coker is Travis Laxton with a No. 3 ranking in the 125-pound weight class. Kevin Thompson and John Allen Griswold both earned No. 4 rankings in the 141-pound and 285-pound weight classes, respectively.

Rashad Cunningham is ranked No. 5 in the 149-pound division, while Luis Peguero is ranked No. 6 in the 184-pound weight class. Rounding out the ranked Cobras is Rocco Hladney with a No. 8 ranking in the 174-pound weight class.

Also making the trip to the NCAA Regional will be Mikel Nelson at the 133-pound weight class, Derek Rothermel at the 157-pound division, Derrick Booth at the 165-pound weight class and Zac Dicus at the 197-pound weight class.
