Cobras Contend With Hawks in Non-Conference Game

HARTSVILLE, S.C.- The Coker women's lacrosse team will bring in the Chowan Hawks on Tuesday (Feb. 27) for a non-conference afternoon matchup.

Coker is coming off of their first win of the season, a sound 17-8 showing over the Converse Valkyries. Haley McCusker tied her career high of goals in a game with seven. Faith Kent also had an outstanding performance with five goals and three assists, two of which were to McCusker. Katie Driskell stepped up in a big way with three goals and five assists (a career-high), with four being to McCusker. Sarah Bryson and Alexis Zegan finished with one goal and one assist each to round out the scoring. Bri Neily and Bailey O'Brien added one and two assists, respectively.

Thus far in the season, Kent leads the team with 11 goals, followed by McCusker with nine. Driskell heads up the assist column with five, with Kent right behind at four. McCusker and Driskell have scooped up six ground balls apiece. Bryson and Kent have controlled seven draws each in the two games combined. With 10 caused turnovers collectively, Driskell (6) and Bryson (4) have been a force on defense. Cassie Williams has 23 saves in 2018, and had a save percentage of 52.9 versus Converse.

The Hawks will come into the game with a record of 0-3, giving up 55 goals between those games. They have scored 19 on their opponents, with their leading scorer having five of them.

Opening draw for the Navy and Gold is set for 3:00 p.m. at the Coker Athletic Field. Tickets for the game are $5 for adults, $3 for students and free to all Coker faculty, staff and students.
