Cobras Fall to Hawks, Kent Has Career Outing

HARTSVILLE, S.C.- The Coker women's lacrosse team dropped their game to the Chowan Hawks 15-14, with the winning goal coming with less than two minutes left on Tuesday (Feb. 27) afternoon.

The Cobras fell behind early in the first half, bringing the score to a tie at 5-5 with about three minutes left until halftime. From that point on, it was back-and-forth lead changes. Coker took the lead into the half, 7-6, courtesy of a Faith Kent goal as the horn sounded. At one point in the second half, the Cobras led 12-9 before Chowan stormed back to tie it at 14-all. The Hawks struck once more with just over 1:30 left to put the game to rest.

Faith Kent scored eight goals against the Hawks, tying herself for the third time for the single game record at Coker. Her 10 points (eight goals plus two assists) also ties her for first all-time in a game record (with herself and McCusker). Katie Driskell and Haley McCusker got into the scoring column as well with two goals each. Bailey O'Brien and Jaeme Noriega contributed two goals collectively. Bri Neily and O'Brien added an assist each as well. Driskell finished with a team-high five ground balls, with Noriega following with four. McCusker controlled seven draws and Kent grappled for four. Driskell also led in caused turnovers with five and Noriega added four. Cassie Williams finished with 12 saves on the afternoon.

The Navy and Gold take the field again Wednesday (March 7) at Mount Olive for another non-conference matchup. Opening draw is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
