HARTSVILLE, S.C.- Coker women's lacrosse dropped its South Atlantic Conference contest at home to Brevard 13-11 on Saturday (Mar. 12).

Hat tricks from Haley McCusker and Claudia Jenkins were not enough to power the Cobras past the Tornados, while Ashlynn Burgett chipped in two goals and Marabeth Durden, Cierra Davis and Faith Kent each scored once.

The Tornados led 4-2 at halftime, and traded goals back and forth most of the second half. Coker would have two different strings of two consecutive goals in the second half that would cut into the visitors; lead. The first came early on in the half when Jenkins scored at 23:18 of the second half, followed up by Burgett at 22:39 to cut the deficit to 6-5. The other spurt would come with less than four minutes left, as McCusker (3:45) and Durden (3:03) tallied back to back to get the Cobras within two goals.

Cassie Dodge took the loss in the cage for Coker. The freshman faced 20 shots and made seven saves.

The Cobras will take the field again on Wednesday (Mar. 16) when they travel to Newberry. Opening draw is set for 3:00 p.m.
