Cobras Make It Six Straight At Home with 19-11 Non-Conference Win Over Flying Fleet

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker women's lacrosse team picked up a 19-11 non-conference win over Erskine College on Thursday (Mar. 26) to make it six straight victories at home. The Cobras are now 6-5 on the season and riding a two-game winning streak.

The game was never in question as the Cobras started the game on an 8-0 run, which grounded the Flying Fleet's attack before it could take off. The Navy and Yellow would lead 13-4 at the break. Erskine would outscore Coker 7-6 in the second half, but Coker's barrage in the first half would prove insurmountable as they came away with a 19-11 victory.

Haley McCusker would lead the way with five goals and an assist, while Danielle Holcomb added five goals. Claudia Jenkins and Mackenzie Baker each would tally two goals and an assist for three points. Cierra Davis would find the back of the net twice and Millie Rogers would net a goal of her own. Rounding out the scoring was Marabeth Durden with one score and an assist and Karah Huntsinger with one goal and a game-high three assists. Defensively, Kaitlyn Vela made 11 saves in 60 minutes of action.

The Cobras will hit the road for their next game against SAC foe Catawba College. The game is scheduled for a 3 p.m. start on Saturday (Mar. 28).
