Cobras Open Season at Cutter Creek Invitational

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker College women's golf team will begin its 2016-17 season on Monday (Sept. 5) when they travel to Snow Hill, N.C. to compete in the Cutter Creek Invitational. The 36-hole tournament, hosted by Barton College, will be played at the Cutter Creek Golf Club.

The Cobras are coming off a 2015-16 campaign where they notched six top-10 finishes, highlighted by a runner-up showing at the Coker Women's Invitational and a fourth-place finish at the Etowah intercollegiate.

Junior Angela Luna headlines the traveling five for the Navy and Gold. Luna was the top performer last season, posting a scoring average of 80.1.

The sophomore duo of Bella Harris and Ana Orlov round out the returners traveling to the two-day tournament. Harris posted a scoring average of 83.8 last season and her round of 75 was a team-low. Orlov finished last season with an 85.4 scoring average, which was highlighted by her tenth-place finish at the Coker Women's Invitational.

Freshmen Kelli Smith and Amber Winburn will be making their collegiate debut for the Cobras. Both Smith and Winburn were members of South Carolina High School League all-state teams and each claimed a South Carolina state title.

Coker will be teeing off hole number one from 9:40 a.m. until 10:12 a.m.
