HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker women's basketball team dropped a heartbreaking, 67-66, South Atlantic Conference game to the Catawba College Indians on Wednesday (Feb. 11) night.

The Indians would hold a 38-31 lead heading into the locker room at half. However, stifling defense by the Cobras would limit Catawba to only 29 points in the second half. Coker would use that defensive momentum to spark a late second half run, which would be capped with a Hailey Yohn three-pointer to knot the game at 61-all.

Following Yohn's three, Catawba would go up by four after a three of their own and a made free throw. Coker would not go away, as senior Heidrun Kristmundsdottir would drill a three to bring the Cobras to within one, 65-64, with 1:23 left on the clock. Senior Tanesha Stenson would cap the second comeback of the half and give Coker a 66-65 lead with 53 seconds left in the game. A costly turnover in the closing seconds would lead to a Catawba layup and 67-66 Indian win.

Stenson led all scorers with 19 points and added six rebounds, five steals and three assists. Lyric Levester netted 13 points, while Yohn poured in 11 points and pulled down five boards.

Coker will head to Brevard College next for a South Atlantic Conference tilt with the Tornados on Saturday (Feb. 14). Tip is scheduled for a 2 p.m. start.
