LRU Captures 69-60 Win Over Coker

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker women's basketball team suffered a 69-60 loss at the hands of SAC opponent Lenoir-Rhyne on Wednesday (Feb. 5) night in the Timberlake-Lawton Gymnasium.  The Cobras are now 10-9 on the year and 8-7 in conference play.

The Coker offense started the game hot; with five different players scoring to give the Cobras a quick 10-4 lead.  The Bears battle back to tie the game at 15, and eventually took a slight 30-28 lead at halftime.

In the second half the Coker offense stalled, as Lenoir-Rhyne started the final 20 minutes with a 10-2 run to go up 40-30.  Coker would respond with a 14-7 run of their own to cut the LR lead to just 47-44 with 8:30 remaining in regulation.  Free throws however would preserve the win for the Bears, as they went on to hit 20-of-25 from the charity stripe in the second half.

Kelley Godbout was the scoring leader for the Cobras with 13 points, while also grabbing four rebounds.  Priscilla Fenty was next on the scoring list with 12 points, and led the team in rebounds with six.  Jessica Cohen chipped in 10 points, while grabbing five rebounds, and landing two blocks.

Coker will look to bounce back this Saturday (Feb. 8) as they host Mars Hill in a SAC competition.  Game time is scheduled for a 2:00 p.m. tip-off.
