Coker Looking to Land Valkyries

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker women's basketball team will host Converse College on Saturday (Feb. 16), in a Conference Carolinas competition.

The Cobras are coming off an exciting 66-63 win over Mount Olive.  Autumn Lau was the leading scorer of that game after dropping in the game high 27-points.  Angie Lawrence however, was not to be forgotten after she contributed 18-pints of her own.

Autumn and her twin sister Amber Lau, are the leading scorers of the team with 19.5 and 14.1 points per game.  Lawerence is right behind the sisters averaging 10.3 points, while Priscilla Fenty continues to dominate in the paint by averaging seven rebounds a game. 

Converse (0-21, 0-16) will be seeking their first win of the season.  The Valkyries are led by Samira Gillcrese who is averaging 10.2-points per game.

Saturday's game is "Play 4Kay."  "Play 4Kay" is a weeklong initiative across women's basketball to raise breast cancer awareness and funds for research across campuses, in communities and beyond.  All proceeds from the week benefit the Kay Yow Breast Cancer Foundation. 

Tip-off for Saturday's game is scheduled for 2:00 p.m., in the Timberlake-Lawton gymnasium.
