Mumford Breaks Coker's 100-meter Dash Record at Weems Baskin Invitational

COLUMBIA, S.C.- The Coker College men's track and field team traveled to the state capital in Columbia, S.C. on Friday, March 23, taking on the opening day at the Weems Baskin Invitational, hosted by the University of South Carolina. Jarrell Mumford planted his foot firmly in the Coker record book, setting the new best-time in the 100-meter dash. 

Jarrell Mumford raced hard in the 100-meter dash preliminary race, crossing the line in 10.80 seconds. His time proves to be the best in Coker's history. Mumford placed 17th overall in the event.

Mumford also raced in the 400-meter dash. Finishing in 20th, Mumford ran a 49.83, which put him second all-time at Coker.

Kace Faulkner competed in the hammer throw on Friday, launching for a distance of 122' 11", good for second all-time for the Cobras.

The Navy and Gold will be back at it on Saturday, March 24 from the University of South Carolina for day two of the Weems Baskin Invitational. Results can be found by visiting www.cokercobras.com.
