Cobras Host Indians in Midweek SAC Doubleheader

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker College softball team will be back at home on Wednesday (Mar. 30) to take on the visiting Catawba College Indians for a pair of South Atlantic Conference matchups. Game one is set for a 1 p.m. start, with game two slated to start at 3 p.m. Live stats and broadcast will be available at www.cokercobras.com.

The Coker lineup has been ignited by the recent emergence of freshman slugger Maria Williamson. Williamson is batting .327 on the season and has three home runs in her last five games. On the season, her 27 RBIs is tied for fourth in the SAC. She also has nine RBIs in that five-game stretch. The all-conference infield duo of Tayler Barcomb and Ashley Gallman have plated 19 RBIs and belted two home runs each this season, while all-conference outfielder Riley Morris has belted three home runs.

As a unit, the Cobra pitching staff has compiled a team ERA of 3.37, led by the 2.47 ERA of freshman right-hander Augusta Jackson.

The Indians make the trip to Hartsville sporting a 22-9 overall record and a perfect 6-0 SAC record. They are led by four-time SAC pitcher of the week, Carley Tysinger. She has a conference-high 15 wins and 195 strikeouts.

First pitch is set for 1 p.m. from Saleeby-Stokes softball field, with gates opening at noon. Tickets for the game are available at the gate. Cost is $5 for adults, $3 for students and all Coker faculty, staff and students get in free.
