Cobras Set to Battle Bears in SAC Doubleheader

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker College softball team will be back at the friendly confines of Saleeby-Stokes softball field on Tuesday (Mar. 31) for a South Atlantic Conference doubleheader against the visiting Lenoir-Rhyne University Bears. Game one is set for 2 p.m., with game two beginning immediately afterwards. Live stats and video will be available at www.cokercobras.com.

The Cobras (19-14) are currently 14-8 in the month of March and riding a three-game winning streak after a road sweep of Belmont Abbey.

The Navy and Yellow are led by Riley Morris and her .433 batting average which is fourth best in the SAC. Morris is also in the top ten of the conference in home runs with seven, doubles with nine, and RBIs with 30. Ashley Gallman is second in the conference with 11 doubles to go along with 17 RBIs and a .388 batting average. Ashlee Ellen is batting .343 with nine doubles and 21 RBIs. Tayler Barcomb has knocked in 20 RBIs this season while belting five home runs.

Tabitha Allen is second in the SAC in both wins (11) and ERA (1.77). Brittany Long who is currently 8-2 on the season has won her last four starts.

The Bears travel to Hartsville with a 24-13 overall and a 4-6 in conference record. They are led by Sarah Kenley and Maryann Hoskins. Kenley is batting .389 with seven home runs, 13 doubles and 38 RBIs. Hoskins has a SAC best 13 wins on the season.

Tickets for the game are available at the gate. Cost is $5 for adults, $3 for students and all Coker faculty, staff and students get in free.
