Coker Falls to Lenoir-Rhyne in SAC Softball Action

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker College softball dropped both games of their South Atlantic Conference doubleheader on Tuesday (Mar. 31) against the Lenoir-Rhyne University Bears. The Bears picked up game one, 7-2, then turned around to take game two, 8-2.

Five runs in the fifth inning would be the difference maker in game one as the Bears took home a five-run victory. Riley Morris and Carley Bailey each went 1-for-3 with an RBI. Tyresha Ellis also went 1-for-3, while Katelyn Szupello finished 1-for-4.

Another big inning by the Bears would propel them victory in game two. This time a five run third inning would be all they needed to take the 8-2 win. Megan Strickland finished with two RBIs while going 1-for-1 at the plate. Katelyn Szupello went 2-for-4 and Jill Lewis scored a run while going 1-for-3 at the plate.

Tabitha Allen (11-11) was tagged with the loss in game one. She went all seven innings, scattering 10 hits and three earned runs. Brittany Long (8-3) suffered the loss in game two. She gave up six runs on four hits in two and two-thirds innings.

The Cobras will be at King College on Friday (Apr. 3) for game one their four-game road trip. First pitch is set for 2:30 p.m.
