Lott Cements Name in School Record Book, Cross County Finishes Strong at Bulldog Stampede

WINGATE, N.C.- The Coker College men's and women's cross country teams traveled to Wingate, N.C. to compete in the Wingate Invitational at the Bulldog Stampede on Saturday (Sept. 23). While the Cobras women's team finished 11th four Coker men ran well individually.

The Bulldog Stampede was a set distance of 6k, but that was no match for Darroneshia Lott as the senior led the way for the third race in a row for Coker. Breaking more school records, Lott ran a time of 22:51.17, which allowed her to finish second overall in the Stampede, but also be firmly placed second overall in the Navy and Gold record books. She now holds the top three 6k times in program history.

Chauntress Like (27:28.23), Breanna Sullivan (27:33.19), Lauren Pearson (30:54.04), Brianna Freeman (34:33.06), and Tiffany Taylor(35:29.35) all helped the Cobras finish 11th out of 19 teams with a total team score of 306.

For the men, Jacob Chebii placed 25th with a time of 35:13.73 in part of a 10k race. Brandon Mullins finished next for the Cobras at the 37:18.84 mark, followed by Razzel Kiplaget (38:00.68) and Luke Elliott (40:09.28).

Coker's next cross country event will be on Saturday (Oct. 7) at the Great American Cross Country Challenge Festival in Charlotte, North Carolina set for a 9:30 a.m. start.
