Cobras Welcome Emmanuel for Saturday Afternoon Match

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker College men's volleyball team will welcome the Emmanuel College Lions for a Saturday (Apr. 1) afternoon match in the DeLoach Center. First serve is set for 3 p.m. Live stats and video will be available at www.cokercobras.com.

The Cobras and Lions met earlier this season back on Feb. 18 at Emmanuel College. Coker came away with a tough 3-2 (26-24, 21-25, 24-26, 25-20, 15-8) victory during their previous matchup. Joao Victor Santos led the Cobras offensively with a team-high 17 kills. Gabriel Castro contributed significantly on the offensive end as well with 14 kills. Defensively, Gary Baker led the way with 14 digs, while Joao Victor Santos and Devion Whetstone added four total blocks each.

The Navy and Gold enter tomorrow's match riding a two-game win streak. In their previous two matches, Coker has had dominating victories over Alderson Broaddus (3-0) and Erskine (3-1). Leading the way offensively this season for the Cobras has been Joao Victor Santos who has belted a team-best 199 kills. In addition, Aleska Bijelic has been an essential part of the Cobras offense by dishing out team-high 421 assists. On the defensive end of the ball, the Navy and Gold have received standout performances from Luca Berger (51 total blocks) and Gary Baker (123 digs). 

Emmanuel heads into tomorrow's match sporting a 5-17 record and a four-game losing streak. Ackeem West leads the Lions offensively with 208 kills and Stephen Diaz has given Emmanuel strong play defensively with a team-leading 204 digs.

Tickets for the game are $5 for adults, $3 for students and free to all Coker faculty, staff and students.
