Cobras Blank Battlers On Final Day of Coker Invitational

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker College men's volleyball team picked up a 3-0 win on Saturday afternoon (Mar. 5) over the visiting Alderson-Broaddus Battlers.

The opening set was all Cobras as they led for nearly the entire set, winning the set 25-19 and taking a 1-0 lead.

The second set would be much tighter, with the Cobras trailing 16-9 midway through the set. However, the Cobras would win 16 of the next 22 points to complete the 25-22 comeback win and take a 2-0 lead.

In the final set, the Navy and Gold were down 8-3 before mounting 5-0 run to tie the set up at 8-8. Neither team could pull ahead by more than three, with the scored at 21-21 in the later stages of the set. The Cobras would close out the match, winning four of the final six points to win the set 25-23 and take home the 3-0.

Joao Victor Santos led the attack for the Cobras, blasting 15 kills and hitting .458. Artur Cabral belted eight kills and six service aces. Luke Hansen finished with six kills, while Aleksa Bijelic paced the offense with 31 assists.

The Cobras will be back in action on Friday (Mar. 11) when they travel to Erskine. Opening serve is TBA.
