Cobras Down Rams in Four Sets

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker College men's volleyball team picked up a 3-1 win over the visiting Bluefield College Rams on Wednesday evening (Feb. 3).

The Cobras breezed through the opening two sets, winning they by scores of 25-16 and 25-12.

However, the third set would be the tightest of the night, with neither team taking more than a five-point lead at any point. The Cobras found themselves ahead 25-24 in the late stages of the set, but a 3-0 Bluefield run to close out the set gave them the 27-25 third set win.

The Navy and Gold would get back on track in the fourth set, surging out in front and winning the set 25-15, winning the match 3-1.

As a unit the Cobras hit .329 for the match, including a kill percentage of .688 in the second set. Individually, Artur Cabral led the charge with a match-high 15 kills and three service aces. Andrew Washam finished with five kills, while James Fulton recorded four kills. The trio of Gabriel Castro, Leshon Alexander and Luke Hansen rounded things out, chipping in three kills apiece. Aleksa Bijelic and Colton Parsons paced the offense with 17 and 16 assists each.

The Cobras will be back in action on Friday (Feb. 12) when they travel to George Mason University. First serve is set for 5 p.m.
