Cobras Split Tri-Match with Rams and Royals

HARTSVILLE, S.C. –The Coker men's volleyball team split its two matches against Bluefield College and Warner University on Saturday (Mar. 28) afternoon. The Cobras notched a 3-0 win over Bluefield and suffered a 3-0 loss to Warner.

In match one, the opening two sets of play would be highly competitive as the Cobras and Rams battled back and forth. However, Coker would pull out tough 25-23 set victories in both the first and second sets. The momentum gained from winning sets one and two would lead Coker to a dominant 25-8 set three victory and 3-0 match win.

Aaron Wendels led the way for the Cobras with eight kills, while Colton Parsons added seven kills and four service aces. James Fulton served five aces to lead the team and Jay Fisher paced the offense with 20 assists.

Match two would see the Cobras fall behind early and never really get going. The Royals would notch set victories with scores of 25-19, 25-17 and 25-20, respectively.

Artur Cabral smashed home 14 kills in the loss and Luke Hansen tallied eight kills. Parsons paced the offense with 17 assists, while Aleksa Bijelic dished out 10 assists.

The Cobras will hit the road and head to Barton College on Saturday (Apr. 4) for a tri-match against the Barton College Bulldogs and Charleston (W.V.) Golden Eagles. Match one begins at 4 p.m. against Charleston followed by match two at 6 p.m. against Barton.
