Cobras Sweep Day Two of Coker Invitational

HARTSVILLE, S.C – The Coker men's volleyball team picked up a pair of dominating wins on the final day of the Coker Invitational on Sunday (Mar. 8). Coker opened the day with a 3-1 victory over Marymount (Va.) University and followed it up with a 3-0 win over Emmanuel (Ga.) College.

In match one, Artur Cabral would put on an offensive show, leading the Navy and Yellow to an opening set win of 25-16. The Saints would rally and pick up a tough 27-25 victory in the second set to knot the match at 1-all. However, Cabral and company would take sets three and four with scores of 25-19 and 25-21, respectively, to capture a 3-1 match win. 

Cabral finished the match with 22 kills, nine digs and six service aces, which set a new Coker single-match record. Luke Hansen chipped in 12 kills, while Liam Flaherty led the defense with six digs and Aleksa Bijelic paced the offense with 39 assists. 

Match two would see Cabral continue his dominance as he led Coker to set victories of 25-15, 25-23 and 29-27, respectively. He would finish the match with 17 kills and five service aces. Leshon Alexander would knock home eight kills and add four blocks, while Hansen registered seven kills and two service aces. Bijelic dished out 34 assists to pace the Cobra offense.

Coker will be back in action on Wednesday (Mar. 11) at 12 p.m. when they take on the Tornado of King College.
