Men’s Tennis Cruises to a 7-2 Victory Over Mars Hill

HARTSVILLE, S.C. - The Coker College men's tennis team (10-7, 3-3 SAC) cruised to a 7-2 victory over the visiting Mars Hill University Lions Saturday (Mar. 31) afternoon in South Atlantic Conference play.

Coker began the match by sweeping doubles play. The duo of Mark Watt and Henrik Hellbe picked up an 8-4 victory at the No. 1 spot, improving to 9-7 on the year. At No. 2 doubles, the tandem of Hunter Horton and Justus Lehman recorded an 8-3 decision, upgrading their record to a team-best 11-5. Felix Schweyer and Dominic Allan wrapped up doubles play with an 8-3 victory at the No. 3 slot, improving their record to 8-3.

In singles action, Watt cruised to a 6-0, 6-2 victory at No. 1 singles, improving his record to a team-best 13-4 on the season. Next, Horton battled for a 7-5, 4-6, 10-4 win at the No. 2 position. Horton improved his singles record to 9-8 on the year. At No. 3 singles, Schweyer tallied a 6-2, 6-2 decision, while Lehman picked up a dominant 8-1 victory at the No. 5 slot. Lehman upgraded his singles record to 12-3 with the victory.

The Cobras will be back in action when they travel to Newberry on Wednesday (Apr. 4) and take on the Wolves at 2 p.m.
