Coach Williams led the Cobras to five wins during the 2017-18 season, including a 4-1-1 record over the final six matches of the season. The Navy and Gold picked up victories over South Atlantic Conference foes Tusculum, Queens, and Carson-Newman. The team experienced just as much success off the field as well, earning the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award. Williams coached Aladdin Elfares and Jacob Simonis to All-SAC selections.

In his third season, Williams led the Cobras to a seven-win season, five of which came in South Atlantic Conference play. The Cobras qualified for the South Atlantic Conference Championship Tournament, defeating Lenoir-Rhyne in the quarterfinals in a 7-6 penalty kick thriller, advancing to the SAC semifinals for the first time since joining the league in 2013. Aladdin Elfares and Alvaro Urena were named to the All-SAC Team, Elfares earning second-team honors, while Urena was an honorable mention selection. In the SAC Tournament, Elfares and Chris Bordelon were named to the SAC All-Tournament Team. His squad was also named a NSCAA Academic Award winner. 

Williams guided the Cobras to a three-win season in 2015-16, all of which came in South Atlantic Conference play. They scored wins over Newberry, Mars Hill and Tusculum. Juniors Kyndle Cobb and Connor Norton-Baker were named to the preseason All-SAC second team.

In his first season as head coach, Williams led the Cobras to a 4-8-5 record with a 4-4-3 record in South Atlantic Conference action. Their play was good enough to qualify them for the SAC tournament. Four players were named to the All-SAC team during the 2014-15 season.

Chris Williams joined the Cobra staff as the head men's soccer coach in March of 2014.

Williams heads to Hartsville after most recently serving as the men's soccer assistant coach at the University of Northwestern Ohio for two years. During his time at UNOH he helped guide the Racers to a 24-9-7 record and back-to-back Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Tournament appearances. In addition to assisting with the varsity team, he was the head coach of Racers' junior varsity squad, which sported a 14-1-3 record during his tenure.

As a player, Williams had a very successful playing career at Lindsey Wilson College in Kentucky where he won two national championships (2009, 2011). He was named the most valuable player of the NAIA National Championship as a sophomore and earned NAIA All-American honors all three years. He also earned All-Mid-South honors, as well as Academic All-Mid-South honors all three years at Lindsey Wilson.

Prior to Lindsey Wilson, Williams attended Holy Names University in Oakland, California, where he helped lead his team to a national tournament berth while being named Cal-Pac All-Conference and Defender of the Year.

A native of Flint, Wales, Williams graduated with honors from Lindsey Wilson in December 2011 with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and a minor in Coaching Behavior. He was a two-time NAIA Scholar-Athlete during his junior and senior seasons. He and his wife Caitlin have two children, a son Rowan Rhys (3) and a daughter Cerys Anwen (5 weeks).
